  6. Prepare 4 tsp plain yoghurt (i use homemade)

This curry goes well with naan or paratha! For making paneer tikka, we marinate the paneer pieces with yogurt and some spices and then pan roast them before putting them in the curry. Paneer Tikka is a spicy grilled Indian Cottage Cheese dish. It is hands down one of the most delicious Indian appetizers.

Steps to make Paneer tikka (cottage cheese):

  1. Cut the cottage cheese into 1 inch cubes and set aside
  2. In a bowl, mix everything well and add the cheese. Allow to marinate for a few hours because it soaks in all the juicy marinade. When you want to cook it, skewer it seperating each with a pepper chopped to approx. the same size as the cheese (green red yellow or all) this is amazing for bbq's so it uses low heat and gets super tender
  3. NB: this is not like regular cheese, it doesnt melt so to know when it is ready, just break it, it should not be too rubbery and should not flake when breaking it

Tandoori Paneer Tikka is made from chunks of Paneer which are marinated in yogurt and spices. Additionally diced onions, tomatoes and capsicum are also marinated along with. Paneer Tikka is so quick and tasty, it makes a delicious dinner cooked in the oven, under the grill or even on the barbecue. What's better than a cheese based main course? Just to note, I have occasionally seen a SOFT version of Paneer, more like a cottage cheese.
