  1. Get 250 grms Basmati rice
  2. Prepare 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  3. Make ready 1/2 cup sliced onion
  4. Take 1 cup shredded cabbage
  5. Get 1 capsicum sliced
  6. Prepare 1 tomato sliced
  7. Take 1/4 cup boiled peas
  8. Prepare 1 tbsp coriander leaves
  9. Make ready 1 tbsp lemon juice
  10. Make ready 1 tsp cumin seeds
  11. Take 1 tbsp pav bhaji masala powder
  12. Get 1 tsp garam masala powder
  13. Take 1 tbsp butter
  14. Take 2 tbsp oil
  15. Make ready as per taste Salt
  16. Get For red chilli garlic chutney–
  17. Prepare 10 red chilles
  18. Prepare 6-7 garlic pods
  19. Make ready 1/4 th tsp black salt or pink salt

Tawa pulao recipe or Tawa Pulav- Cooked rice is sauteed with vegetables and spiced with pav bhaji masala. Tawa pulao is popular Mumbai street food. All the pav bhaji stalls serves this delicious rice. This tawa pulao recipe was totally new to me when many bloggers posted it but found it quite interesting when I read it as the mumbai special street food.

Instructions to make Tawa pulav:

  1. Firstly soak Basmati rice in water for at least 30 mins next drain it. Heat some water in a vessel bring it to boil add rice, turmeric and a little salt and boil it till fully cooked
  2. Once cooked strain it and keep aside
  3. Now in a pan heat butter & oil, now add cumin seeds once cumin seeds crackles add sliced onions and fry till translucent.
  4. Next to this add sliced tomatoes, shredded cabbage, sliced capsicum, green peas fry this for 5 mins.
  5. Now add red chilli garlic paste,(soak red chilles in water for 20 mins, in a mixer jar add soaked red chilles, garlic, pink salt, little water and make fine paste)
  6. Fry this for 5 mins next to this add pav bhaji masala powder, garam masala powder, cooked rice and toss everything well cover and cook for 10 mins
  7. After 10 mins open the lid sprinkle some coriander leaves and add lemon juice and switch off the flame
  8. Serve hot with raita and pickle
  9. Note - You can add red chilli garlic paste more or less according to your taste
  10. Tawa pulav is prepared on large tawa (griddle)& on high heat which actually lends unique flavour.
